Email enquiries are preferred where possible. With a large, busy family & also working out of the home part-time, I'm not always able to answer phone queries. The best times for phone enquiries are evenings & weekends - it may sound like chaos in the background but you are sure to catch me at home :o)

Being an online business we don't have set opening times...so don't hesitate to contact us out of hours!

 

My husband Adam & I, have five children (Addison, Apryll, Ailis, Asher & Avery) and we have nearly 13 years of parenting and babywearing experience. I first started babywearing with Addison when he was born in 1995, but back then there wasn't too much available in the baby stores and I hadn't yet discovered the world of the internet. We used a Kapoochi pouch with Addison, which I found was difficult to put on and not all that comfortable to wear even for short periods. So when I was pregnant seven years later with Apryll I knew I wanted something more comfortable and more practical to carry her in.

We now had the internet & I started my search for the "perfect" baby carrier. I bought and tried numerous slings & carriers with her and found some that worked brilliantly and others that I found lacking in one way or another. When I was out and about with Apryll in a sling, everyone commented on how relaxed and happy she was when she was up in us. When Ailis came along 18mths later, I knew I would carry her even more than I carried Apryll. I was yet again searching for great slings and carriers and the idea for a business was planted.

I had not only discovered the amazing benefits of wearing my babies with my daughters, but with my background in Human Movement studies (anatomy, physiology & biomechanics) I knew that what I used had to be good for me & my baby. I wanted to share this knowledge and experience with other parents and Carrying Away was born.

We began in January 2004, and now over four years later we couldn't be any happier with how things are going. Everyday we are participating in renewing the traditions of babywearing & I'm hearing everyday from parents who have found babywearing has transformed their lives. We strive to offer families access to the best carriers and slings in the world and we want families to be able to find the right carrier for their family and their lifestyle.

While I have a huge personal collection of slings and carriers both traditional and modern, my first love now is for the wrap. I am constantly amazed at how what is really a simple, uncomplicated piece of cloth can be one of the most comfortably baby carriers I've found. The 4th addition to our family, Asher (born Feb 2006) has been a star product tester.

We have welcomed our 5th baby, Avery, to the world on the 8th April 2008. Now I'm once again ltrying out this or that new carrier, new carry, position or tying method to enable me to learn more about the wonderful world of babywearing.  It's amazing just how much things have changed in the last 6 years, there are so many new & awesome products available now.  As we find great new slings and carriers we'll be sure to look to adding them to our website range.
